If you have ever driven a vehicle with a manual transmission, you will be familiar with the red line. Even if you don’t know exactly what it is, you know that you don’t want the needle to go past that line. The red line is meant to warn you that something bad might happen if you don’t ease up on the throttle.

Apparently our bodies have a red line as well. My doctors refer to it as a “Conversion Reaction.” When I lost my ability to speak last Friday, I hit my red line and was given a warning to ease up on the throttle.

Fortunately a Conversion Reaction is temporary, but I am told I need to pretty much come to a stop so my body can cool down. I’ve been running near my red line for too long and the Conversion Reaction was my bodies way of telling me to slow down.

For now I will be taking a week off from
school and work. When I return I will be reevaluating my responsibilities and making adjustments with the help of wise counsel.

Thanks to all who have prayed. I consider it a blessing that God has built in this warning system so that I don’t push myself to the point of complete breakdown. Please pray that my voice will be restored and I would be able to figure out how to rearrange my life to minimize the chance of this happening again.
