Jonathan Edwards Religious Affections

I decided to pick up and read Jonathan Edwards’ “Religious Affections.” I have had this book on my reading list for some time, and now I finally feel like I will have the time to get it done.

Edwards begins this book with the following question:

What are the distinguishing qualifications of those that are in favour with God, and entitled to his eternal rewards?

He also words it this way:

What is the nature of true religion? and wherein lie the distinguishing notes of that virtue which is acceptable in the sight of God?

I am eager to see how Edwards answers this question, as I have a great desire to find favour with God and receive his eternal reward. According to what I have read about Edwards, he lived a blessed and abundant life, therefore I must conclude that he indeed found favour with God and, I’m sure, is now enjoying a full reward in heaven.
