…and that’s just the air travel!

As many of our friends and family knows, Lynn and I will be doing some traveling this spring and summer. I will be spending just over three weeks in Southeast Asia, and Lynn will be joining me and a group of Prairie students in India for two weeks.

Southeast Asia

Work of Your Hand LogoWork of Your Hand is an organization we have recently come to know and love. As stated on their website, the primary purpose of Work of Your Hand is to glorify God by helping underprivileged and marginalized people in developing nations find hope and gain dignity, through meaningful work that pays a fair wage and enables them to provide for their families. Work of Your Hand believes “trade not aid” will help alleviate poverty. Therefore, they purchase products from developing nations for fair wages, then import and sell these products in international markets.

The primary purpose of my trip will be to film the stories of the local artisans who make the products, and promote the kind of work being done to free people from poverty and oppression. I will also be helping to design products that will be made by local artisans in Philippines and Cambodia, to be sold at Prairie Bible Institute with Prairie’s branding on it.

India

We are very excited that Lynn and I have the opportunity to travel to India together. We are going with a team of nursing and digital media students to Hyderabad to work with Operation Mobilization (OM) and Dalit Freedom Network (DFN). I will be instructing the digital media students as they film the work being done by those organizations and the nursing students. Lynn will be working with OM and DFN, possibly doing some workshops with the local Dalit women who are training to run their own businesses. More information about the India trip can be found in a post I wrote in February.

Please pray for us as we make preparations for the trip and consider providing financial support. The Asia trip is pretty much all paid for, but we need to raise some more money for the India trip. You can make a tax-deductable donation on the Prairie website. Just select the Digital Media Cross-Cultural Practicum from the drop-down menu.

Thank you for your support!
