I’m leaving you well and whole.

The message of Jesus as he was preparing for the last days of his time on earth was that of comfort: My parting gift to you is peace.

“I’m telling you these things while I’m still living with you. The Friend, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send at my request, will make everything plain to you. He will remind you of all the things I have told you. I’m leaving you well and whole. That’s my parting gift to you. Peace. I don’t leave you the way you’re used to being left—feeling abandoned, bereft. So don’t be upset. Don’t be distraught.

John 14:25-27 The Message

The Holy Spirit, promised by Jesus and sent by God the Father, is here to remind us of what Jesus said during his years of teaching and discipling his followers. He is also here to bring completeness–peace–to the followers of Jesus.

If you have at any point made a decision to follow Jesus (this is not the same as “accepting Jesus into my heart”), you are made complete. The problem is often that our human nature, which is yet to be completely destroyed by death, surfaces and we pay more attention to that than to the voice of the Spirit.

Be reminded today through this devotional that you are indeed complete, a whole person, and you can rest in that peace. If you have never decided to follow Jesus, start today.
