I had the pleasure of bringing our kids to school this morning, as Lynn had to go to work early.

On the way there I asked the kids what to do when other kids are mean to them.

Evan: “tell the teacher.”
Anika: “forgive them.”
Caleb: “be nice to them.”

Those are all great answers, and they made me proud.

I added, “love them by praying for them.”

Jesus said: “But I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you.” Luke 6:27-28

In my view, this is one of the most important lessons I can teach my children. If they grow up as people who forgive, love and pray for those who hurt them, I will be the proudest father alive.

They can go on to lead large businesses, play professional sports, or be at the top of their class, but if they do not know how to forgive, love and pray for those who hurt them, I will have failed as a father.
